Special access for candidates and their campaigns
Provide special access for candidates and their designated agents to update their information (e.g., campaign contact info, candidate bio, etc.).
There should still be information about them and their campaigns that they can’t edit — so they can’t cover up negative points in their campaigns, etc.

Auto-process local media news feeds
Pull in the feeds (RSS/Atom) from local news media.
It would be great if it would auto-link where candidate or party names match. (So, if an article mentions Candidate X, it would show up in the profile for Candidate X.)

Legislation, By-Laws & Policy Wiki
Implement a wiki (user editable content) for tracking, suggesting and commenting on existing and proposed legislation, by-laws and policies.

Search Bar
so that users can easily search the site for a name that they think is a candidate. After all, there are so many to keep track of. How does the site creator do it? Must be a machine or a robot or something.

Track campaign finance
Keep track of donations and gifts to, as well as expenditures by, politicians and their campaigns.

Take submissions for new names for the Peace Bridge
Many average people were taken by surprise when the Peace Bridge started emerging out of the bow. A result of diminishing citizen participation in city affairs, renaming the bridge can help awaken Calgarians to the importance of their roles within sociey.

User profiles with candidate/party endorsements
Allow for users to create their own profiles on the site, and to indicate which candidates and parties they support.

Document political partying and fundraisers
Attempt to track, record, and semantically organize political partying (not parties), fundraisers, and nontraditional social politicking. (Post-Election) Inspiration: http://www.politicalpartytime.org/

Set up a citizens' forum
Set up a simple website forum where citizens can bring up issues, concerns, activism and volunteer opportunities, and have an outlet to participate in the governance of the city.

Track voting record for council members
Keep a simple list of motions and proposed legislature and keep a simple visual aid of how each person voted. Then people can tell whether their views are being represented.

Change Site Colours!
Why must a site that clearly and explicitly states that it is non-partisan be subject to the same ideological identification through colour as political parties or candidates?
All Canadians, whether organization or individual, have a right to use pigments without prejudice!
Calgarydemocracy.ca needs to stand up for itself and claim the right to fluorescent pink- before it is stolen by another mayoral contender!

a way to measure candidates' engagement with the public.
How they are interacting with the public, appearances, Social Media engagement, etc. I want a candidate who isn't afraid of new technology and uses the power of social media networks to really talk to people.

Display photos for candidates
When showing a page on the site with information about a given candidate, include a photo of the candidate.
I would like some feedback on what the criteria for photos should be, though. Possible requirements (feel free to comment against any of these suggestions, or to suggest other requirements):
• Just the candidate — no one else in the picture.
• No logos or text displayed (including, no slogans on shirts, no logos on buildings or walls in the background, no flags, etc.).
• Maybe standardize on head shots? I.e., may include from upper torso up. Or, should we allow…0 votes
